YANG in Halifax approached us to build pre-opening brand awareness and generate excitement across the region for their new Thai restaurant, offering hand-rolled dim sum, authentic Thai curries, and grilled seafood and meat dishes.

Here are the results we achieved in just one month leading up to the grand opening.

Built pre-opening buzz without using any food content — relied solely on storytelling, branding, and local engagement to generate strong awareness.

Overview

Creativity and storytelling were key to the success.

We focused on authenticity from the very beginning. Rather than relying on generic marketing, we let the owner tell their story — sharing their roots, connection to Bangkok, and experience in Thai cuisine. This personal touch helped future customers connect emotionally with the brand before the doors even opened.

To build excitement and atmosphere, we combined local drone footage with real clips from Thailand, capturing the energy and culture that inspired the restaurant. This approach helped set the tone for what would be a truly authentic dining experience.

Approach

Clear content strategy, engaging storytelling videos and paid ads for YANG Halifax

We developed a clear pre-opening strategy to build excitement and connection with the future audience. First, we outlined key messaging about YANG’s concept and authenticity, then produced high-quality video content featuring the owners, including clips from Thailand and behind-the-scenes footage of the restaurant’s build process.

To boost engagement, we ran an Instagram Stories “FAQ Session”, giving people the chance to ask questions and feel involved. This was supported by targeted Paid Ads to ensure we reached the right audience in and around Halifax ahead of the launch.
